Flat Life

Yes it’s a literally flat life……a flat smile, a dry flat response ,and even a flat reply.
Mrs. Reddy on the 5th floor has her balcony in alliance with those of the other ones on the lower floors. She has her clothes line outside her balcony which overlooks others’ clotheslines. So when she hangs her wet clothes in her own convenient time, water dripping from her clothes kisses the other dry clothes of Mrs. Banerji, Mrs. Arora and Mrs. Mishra only to make them all wet again. Suddenly Mrs. Mishra gets up to see her clothes wet. She rings up all the upper floors and vents out her ire. The others give her a “flat” maine nahin kiya response. Mrs. Reddy is not ready to take up the onus. She fights back saying “paani upar se neeche nahin girega tho fir kya neeche se oopar girega?””
Mrs kumar staying on the 3rd floor has a 3 year old baby who keeps on dropping toys, beads and marbles on the floor of her room. The family on the 2nd floor develops a headache because the decibels received is very high.
Mrs Bannerji is very particular about cleanliness. She orders the maid to “wash” the balcony every day. The maid finds it easier to use a hose pipe and water flows luxuriantly from all sides of the balcony only to drench Mr saxena who is walking to board his car. He looks up and another bucket of water falls on his head. Theres no one visible and Mr saxena also fears that if he looks up again ladies may mistake him to be an ogler!!!He comes back grumbling to himself and changes his attire. This time he’s very careful to cross the building.
Mrs Krishnamoorthy likes to have a bath early morning before she starts on her chores…she sees old rice and dal fallen on her balcony.”Rama Rama…she chants.. and goes on to clean the food remains.Just as she starts to go back a cigarette stub falls on her hand. This is too much for her. She throws it out and goes to have another bath.
Mrs Ratore’s 80 year old father in law is coming to visit them and so she’s busy tying a clothes line inside the balcony. She fears that while leaning against the balcony to dry his clothes on the clothes line outside the balcony, clothes(read undergarments) may inevitably slip to fall on the lower floor’s balcony much to the embarrassment of both Mrs Rathod and Mrs Sharma of the lower floor.
“There is some issues with Mrs kamble and her inlaws” hushes Mrs Ghosh to her friends…..how does SHE know? Its because she overheard Mrs Kamble speaking to her friends on phone in her balcony!!!
Mrs Mukherji is very fond of gardening.but because of lack of open space she keeps planters on the balcony wall. Everytime Mrs Prakash takes her infant out in a perambulator, she has to look up for any falling planter on her head.
Mr Bakshi has a Saint Bernard as his pet…which is actually a pest to the cohabitants. The children scream and shout if the pet travels in the same lift as them only to invite an angry disgusted look from the owner!!!!
Friends!! This is “ flat” life…………….the incidents are true and only a little exaggerated…..and you can identify the character of one Ms. Vaitheeswaran in one of the ladies…….cheers!!!
