Mistaken Identity
One of our security guards’ Daughter-in-law was due for delivery. He was showing her in a Govt Hospital at Delhi. During Diwali while she had come over to Noida to stay with her Parents in law she developed pain in abdomen. Panicking he phoned me to ask whether he could take her to the multispecialty District hospital at Noida. Also he said that, since she was unregistered there, whether I could help in getting her in.
I assured him the best help I could and phoned the hospital directly.
The operator handed over the phone to the doctor on emergency duty.
I : “Hello this is Dr Lalita…….may I know whom I’m talking to?”
“I’m Dr Bindu………”
I : ” Bindu ?….. Bindu Shrivastav??.. I said excitedly…
“Yes” she said
I continued……”Hey Bindu …please see her ………………….and I explained my problem to her.
She said ” Today I don’t have my duty in the labor room. Its Dr. Vandana’s today.
I :Dr Vandana ? Vandana Sharma? our own Vandana Sharma?”
She said ” Yes”
I was over excited…..here I was looking for one familiar doctor and I had found two………
I called up the security guard and said…..Don’t worry…go just now…….Dr Bindu and Dr Vandana both are there……. I have phoned them….you will be taken care of.
At around afternoon, I got his phone that he is being asked to go back to Delhi Hospital.
I thought I might as well go there and meet my friend Vandana to know what transpired.
As I entered the labour ward and asked for Dr Vandana Sharma……………..
She turned around………and lo
It was some other Dr. Vandana………..which left me searching for expressions and apologies…… ..
Needless to mention that
Dr. Bindu Shrivastava was also not the one I knew.
