The slip of the slipper

This is a very old story. My brother’s thread ceremony was being held and there were lots of rituals and many people.
Since the ceremony stretches over around 3 days, the punditji had to come on all these days..
On the first day after the rituals were over my brother complained that his new hawai chappals had been accidentally swapped by the Punditji...who had left his old ones in return..
My mom said… ” Dont worry…he would come again tomorrow ..we would politely tell him.”.
Next day..my brother couldnt wait patiently and soon as the Punditji came and removed his footwear…he quickly exchanged them with the Punditji’s original ones .
But he forgot to tell this to mom…
When all the rituals of the day were over , my mom went to the Punditji and graciously told him that the slippers have got exchanged..
Punditji exclaimed……”Oh no problem…it must have got mixed up by mistake.”
..
So my mom now exchanged the chappals again…
Only to realise and much to my brother’s annoyance..
That the old tattered chappals came back again to us.
